Southport Festival of Croquet

Calling all Association/Advanced Croquet Players

We are preparing early for the Southport Festival of Croquet on 24th and 25th June 2017 and we are looking for volunteers to play in this enjoyable annual tournament. We need teams for Short Lawn, Full Lawn (18 points) AC and Advanced Doubles for both Saturday and Sunday. You do not need to play both days and, if we have sufficient volunteers, you will not even need to play all day. We can swap people in and out of games on a day. However you may only play for one club in any one category.

Please let me know which form of the game you would be willing to play (Short Lawn Association, Full Lawn Association, Advanced) and which day (Saturday or Sunday or both). Please try to pick more than one category if you are capable of playing in more than one (eg Short Lawn and Full Lawn Association).

If you are considering staying in Southport, we stayed at the Travelodge last year and I have already booked for Friday and Saturday for myself. Generally we all go out for a meal in the evenings and it is great fun. Unfortunately the Club cannot subsidise accommodation and meals. However, if you are only going for one day, lifts/car shares will be arranged in the normal way. Southport Croquet Club always provide an excellent lunch at only £8.

Please don’t feel that you are not good enough to play in this brilliant event. Everyone is welcome to have a try. The main aim is to have fun and meet other North West croquet players. John Dawson wants me to remind you that there are trophies to be won. Those of you who know me will realise I am not too worried about that aspect, sorry John, though it’s always nice to win something!

We already have a team selected for the Golf Croquet handicap competition.

Please respond by Wednesday 17th May.

Many thanks
