2024 Taster Day and Coaching

We are running taster and beginners sessions for newcomers to croquet in 2024 together with various coaching sessions to help members improve their play. Further details will be posted here as plans develop.

A new AC beginners course on Tuesdays from 11 June 2024

A new six week AC beginners course will start on Tuesday, 11 June, at 5 pm.

It is aimed primarily at those new members who joined partway through the first course and those that wish to repeat part or all of it.

It will also be linked into a developers/improvers course that will run in tandem. The improvers course will focus on one particular aspect each week.

With a short introduction/demonstration followed by a practice session and then rounded off with conditioned games.

Anyone wishing to learn the rudiments of the game or develop and enhance their existing skill set will be very welcome. Just come along!

A six week novice/ beginner AC croquet class is starting on the Tuesday evening of 30th April at 5pm.

Each class will consist of two seventy five minute modules separated by a break for refreshments.

The opening module will involve the acquisition of new skills and the second module will be the opportunity to practice those new skills.

Topics for inclusion in week one include lawn layout, yard line, starting a game choices (colours or start), hoop sequence, grip, stance, swing, lining up a shot, drives, running a hoop, and moving around the lawns (roquet, croquet and continuation).

Taster Day – Sunday, 21 April 2024

Our next taster sessions for newcomers who would like to try their hand at croquet will be on Sunday, 21 April 2024.

Fun, fresh air, social, competitive – welcome to croquet!

Croquet is essentially just 6 hoops, 4 balls, 2 mallets and a patch of grass. But it is also a game of skill and strategy, and one that offers friendship, fun and competition. Moreover, it doesn’t need strength, so men and women play on an equal footing, and the handicap system allows people to successfully play at all levels. Our members range from 18 to 88!

Interested to find out more? Or have played before but a long time ago? Come along to our taster session to learn all about the sport and be introduced to one of the friendliest clubs in the North West based in Westminster Park.
