President

President: Rupert Thorp was a prominent member of the Cambridge University croquet team in the early 1960s and was a founder member of Chester Croquet Club in 1977.  He and David Miller, who captained the Cambridge team in 1963, were co-authors of ‘Croquet and How to Play It’ published in 1966.  He is a civil engineer specialising in dams and reservoirs and lives in Brassey Green near Tarporley.

Committee

Chairman: Tom Grievson

Tom joined the club in 2019 and has become a keen golf croquet player. As well as enjoying the social aspects of the club, he has been equipment officer for the past three years keeping the club’s storeroom, hoops, mallets and other items in good shape and undertaking repairs and replacements when necessary. Secretary: Robin Tasker

Robin joined in club in 2015 and quickly reduced his association croquet handicap to mid single figures. He was equipment officer before Tom Grievson and took on the role of North West Federation representative on the Croquet Association Council in 2022. Treasurer: Ian Graham

Ian joined the club in 2015 and is a keen golf croquet player. He was elected Treasurer at the AGM in March 2024, taking over from Trevor Farrell who had fulfilled the role for the previous six years.  He can be contacted by e-mail at ilgraham@hotmail.com or on 01244 681744.

Publicity, beginners and new members: Sally Slater

Sally has been a member of the club since 2011 and plays both association croquet and golf croquet.  She was membership secretary from 2013 to 2018 and now looks after publicity for the club and organises taster sessions for newcomers who are interested in trying their hand at the game. As such she is the first point of contact for new or prospective members to provide information and answer queries. She also helps to arrange the club’s social events. Membership and internal communications: Hugh Bray

Hugh has been looking after the club’s membership information and internal communications since 2019 and helps to keep the club’s web site up to date by posting the latest news, match reports and photographs.
